3月1日は国連合同エイズ計画（UNAIDS）が提唱する差別ゼロデーです。今年は法律がテーマに取り上げられています。人びとを苦しめる差別的な法律が多数の国で残されたままになっているからです。UNAIDSの公式サイトには、1日から始まるキャンペーンの冊子がPDF版で掲載されています。
英文のままですいません。なんだかんだと忙しく、日本語仮訳の作成に取りかかれませんでした。最近は法律以前の無法がまかり通って、世界が危機に追い込まれている印象がありますが、だからと言って、ひどい法律をそのままにしていいということにはなりません。冊子の方は追々、訳していくことにして、とりあえずキャンペーンサイトに載っている短い紹介文だけ仮訳を作成しました。悪しからず。

今年の差別ゼロデーのテーマは『Remove laws that harm, create laws that empower（有害な法律を取り除き、力を与える法律を作ろう）』です。UNAIDSは差別的な法律に反対する行動が緊急に必要なことを強調しています。
法律によって、人びとが異なる扱いを受け、基本的なサービスから除外され、単に自分が誰であるか、何をするか、誰を愛するかという理由で生活に過度の制限が課せられている。世界には、そんな国がたくさんあります。そうした差別的な法律は、基本的な人権と自由を否定するものです。
国家には、差別的な法律を撤廃し、人びと差別からまもる法律を制定するという道義的、法的義務があります。そして、国に説明責任と変化を求め、差別的な法律の撤廃に向けて努力する責任は、すべての人にあります。
差別ゼロデーの3月1日は、すべての人が充実した生産的な生活を送り、尊厳を持って差別のない日々を過ごす権利を祝うべき日なのです。
On Zero Discrimination Day this year, under the theme “Remove laws that harm, create laws that empower”, UNAIDS is highlighting the urgent need to take action against discriminatory laws.
In many countries, laws result in people being treated differently, excluded from essential services or being subject to undue restrictions on how they live their lives, simply because of who they are, what they do or who they love. Such laws are discriminatory—they deny human rights and fundamental freedoms.
States have a moral and legal obligation to remove discriminatory laws and to enact laws that protect people from discrimination. Everyone has a responsibility to hold states accountable, call for change and contribute to efforts to remove discriminatory laws.
On Zero Discrimination Day, 1 March, we celebrate the right of everyone to live a full and productive life—and live it with dignity and free from discrimination.
